Sophomore Margot Hetzke scored 16 of her game-high 20 points in the second half and finished with 14 rebounds for the Partiots (12-0, 8-0). Penfield went on an 8-0 run in the final three minutes of the third quarter to overcome a 42-35 deficit and take a one-point lead into the fourth. Lucy Covley and Michelle Nesselbush each scored 16 points. Covley added five assists.

Connor Russell goal gives Penfield big win
Connor Russell scored a short-handed goal 1:47 into the second period off a feed from Jake Forken to lead Penfield past Greece Athena/Odyssey 1-0 in Section V hockey Wednesday. Forken fed the puck up the ice to Russell, who made a move on the Thunder defender and connected a wrist shot top shelf, for the Patriots (5-6-1). Jimmy Krystofik stopped 25 shots for Penfield.

Kyle Covley made 16 of 17 free throws and scored 31 points to push Penfield to a 69-57 win over Rush-Henrietta in Monroe County boys basketball. Covley finished with 14 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks for the Patriots (5-2).
Aaron Hawn added five blocks for Penfield. R-H (2-5) tied the score at 53 before the Patriots closed the game on a 16-4 run.

Katie Kayes scored six of her 10 points and Sheila Nesselbush added eight of her 14 during the decisive fourth-quarter run. Megan Malloy had 10 assists for Penfield. Penfield is ranked No. 7 in the state in Class AA.

Margot Hetzke scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the second and third quarters and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Penfield. St. Laurent, ranked No. 1 in the Quebec province, cut a 23-point Penfield lead to six with 3:30 remaining in the game. Sheila Nesselbush added 13 points for the Patriots, who play Shaker-II, ranked No. 4 in the New York State Sports Writers girls basketball poll, in the championship game at 6 tonight.

Kyle Covley had 11 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for Penfield. Penfield was up by as many as 15 in the 4th quarter. Canandaigua came back to within 3 with less than a minute to play but Penfield held on for the win. Penfield is 2-2. Penfield will play Wayne at 7:45 Thursday in the championship game.

Webster Thomas comes back to win
Patrick Schuber and Devin Jeffords combined for 17 points in the fourth quarter as Webster Thomas rallied from 15 down for a 74-67 win over Penfield Wednesday in a Monroe County boys game. The pair scored 17 of Thomas' of the 29 fourth-quarter points. Jeffords finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Schuber had 12 points for the Titans (4-1). Kyle Covley had 19 points for Penfield (1-2).

Brian Wall's OT goal lifts Penfield hockey to victory
Brian Wall scored his second goal of the game 2:33 into overtime to lift Penfield to a 3-2 win over Canandaigua Thursday in Section V hockey at Webster Ice Arena. Ryan Burke and Alex D'Agostino assisted to give Penfield (2-3-1-1) the win. Canandaigua led 2-0 going into the third before Penfield tied it with Wall's goal with 48 seconds remaining. D'Agostino also assisted on the tying goal.
